It takes work to convert old paper or microfilm documents into shiny new electronic documents. short of OCR, we can take pictures of the documents (or of their pictures) and put the pictures up on servers.

There are already some such picture farms on the web. Go look at the MOA Journals project and the Internet Library of Early Journals for some examples of what can be done.
